| ７世紀から９世紀の間に作成されたリンデスファルヌの福音書 [The Lindisfarne Gospels] とケルスの書 [The Book of Kells] の優雅なインシュラーの大文字体は注目に値します。
後半ではケルティック・デコレーションを含んだ飾り文字を集中的に学び、組み紐の新しいテックニックを紹介します。
最後に、一冊のブックレットにラテン語のコロフォン（奥付）を付ける草書体を使用して、最終課題として仕上げます。
使用：アンシャル系の書体ですのでクラシックからモダーンな文章に適しながら 読みやすくするためいくつかの変形を使います。 古代時代と中世期の間に金細工の工房で発生した抽象的模様が 宝石、生地やグラスの作品などのデザインを面白く見せます。 This course focuses on the majestic Insular majuscule used for luxurious manuscripts from the 7th-9th century such as the Book of Lindisfarne and the Book of Kells; in addition to interlace techniques learned in the initiation course of Celtic decorations, another approach to design is explored. As a final class project, in class a manuscript book will be created and include a Latin colophon in Insular cursive minuscules. Applications: as part of the family of Uncial hands, this style is suitable for classic and modern texts with some adaptations in order to ease reading. Celtic decorations of initials were developed during Antiquity and in the early Middle Age by goldsmiths; their intricate patterns is an inspiration not only for calligraphers but also for artists who design jewelry, glassware, fabrics etc. |
