Paillasson was a French scribe working in Paris just until the Revolution ; his work consisted in writing official documents mainly for the royal family. He was an expert at creating elegant, powerful and beautiful page presentations using the fashionable Ronde, a cursive style of writing. In this this workshop students will be introduced to the world of Paillasson and practice the Ronde using his own examples of the 18th century. A few adjustments will be made to make this cursive legible for contemporary use. The second part of the workshop will focus on the cut of the quill adapted to the Ronde style. Other nibs suitable for this hand will also be used including the copperplate nib.
