カロリン体は8世紀と9世紀の文化ルネッサンス期に人気があった小文字体です。
次に学ぶ大文字のルスティカ体はローマ時代から、幅広く使われていた書体で、曲線が多く、
早く書けるので好まれていました。
２つの書体を学んだ後に、ライン川沿いの飾り文字と、サンクト・ガレンのイニシャルの作り方を学びます。

使用：グリーティングカード、札、引用句、神話、詩、パッケージング、モノグラムなど。
