Maiko Takeoka came across Latin calligraphy when working as a full-time English teacher at a private high school in Tokyo, and began studying calligraphy at MG School in 2000. She is presently teaching a course of "Gothic Rotunda in Spain" at MG School in Tokyo while continuing to teach English part time.

Feb. 2006 Received Shusaku Award from "The 34th Exhibition International Calligraphy Association" at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum
Oct. 2006 Exhibited a work at "The Echternach Manuscripts" exhibition at the Embassy of Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg in Tokyo
Received Certificate of Appreciation from Luxembourg in recognition of her contribution to the above exhibition
Nov. 2006 - Feb. 2007 Exhibited at "The Echternach Manuscripts" at the Kampo Museum in Kyoto
